Year 4 are Mad about Forces
On Wednesday our Year 4 students had an unforgettable science incursion with Mad About Science, led by Lisa. This interactive session brought our current studies on forces to life in the most exciting way. Over the past few weeks, Year 4 students have been exploring various types of forces, including air resistance, gravity, friction, magnetism, push, and pull. This incursion allowed students to deepen their understanding, apply their knowledge practically, and explore the real-world effects of forces in an engaging, hands-on environment.
Throughout the session, students were actively involved in experiments that illustrated how different forces interact with each other and affect everyday objects. From watching the power of spinning wheels at work to observing air resistance with papers and gravity with balloons, each activity expanded their grasp and understanding of the concepts we’ve been covering in class. Students were given opportunities to share their knowledge, ask questions, and test new theories. Their excitement was evident as they watched objects defy gravity, felt the effects of friction, and measured and recorded the force of objects.
This incursion wasn’t just a day of learning; it was an opportunity for students to connect science with the wonders around them, inspiring the scientists of tomorrow!
