Celebrating the First Nations People
This week for NAIDOC Week, the Senior Kinder and Year 1 students engaged in rich learning experiences that celebrated the achievements of the First Nations People. In Senior Kinder, the children studied the Bundjalung artist Bronwyn Bancroft and had the opportunity to create their own artistic response with a focus on colour, shapes and patterns. On Thursday this week, the Year 1’s joined the Senior Kinder students to celebrate NAIDOC Week together. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our creative drawings and paintings that showcased famous Indigenous Australian artists. We enjoyed sharing what we had learnt about these artists, their languages and connecting with our siblings and cousins in different year levels. See attached for some pictures of our vibrant art pieces during the Year 1’s visit to Senior Kinders.
