Theatre Studies Monologue - Teige Cordiner
Tom Ripley from 'The Talented Mr Ripley' by Phyllis Nagy, adapted from the novel by Patricia Highsmith

Tom Ripley is a criminal with an ambiguous past. When Ripley is sent to Italy to track down Richard Greenleaf (Rickie), the errant son of a wealthy American couple, his mission takes on a sinister twist as their lives become inextricably entwined. Attracted and seduced by Rickie's fortune, Ripley murders him and assumes his identity.

Teige's monologue depicts Ripley who has been impersonating Rickie being confronted by one of Rickie's old school friends, Freddie, who suspects that Ripley (Rickie) is not who he says he is.
