Making salt dough in Prep
The Preps recently finished a three-week art unit on modelling – and instead of clay, we all made our own salt dough! The students met online with all their ingredients ready and enjoyed mixing and kneading the dough, then experimenting with different tools (forks, pencils, whisks and whatever was at hand) to see what kinds of mark they made. In their second lesson they learned how to make a snake, and tried out some different ways to arrange them, such as coiled or in an ‘S’ shape. For their last lesson they added colour and detail to their snakes and photographed them outside in a natural environment. It’s been wonderful to see all the photos of their beautifully-decorated snakes in the grass!
