Middle School (Years 6 - 9)

Middle School years are a time of rapid development, as students gain independence and start to understand themselves in relation to the world. Our Middle School programs emphasise collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. Our students are nurtured and challenged in and out of the classroom, taking advantage of our co-curricular programs and our many opportunities to excel. They embrace our values of inclusivity, tikkun olam, a meaningful relationship with Israel and a love of learning.

The Middle Years are when students are experiencing the greatest physical, emotional, intellectual and social changes of their lives. During these years students progressively seek greater independence and develop their individual identities and value systems. Intellectually they have a growing capacity for reflective global thinking and begin to make decisions beyond the home and family. They start to build or break relationships according to the life skills they are taught during Kesher (Homeroom), formally and informally.

We aim to develop a deeper student understanding via engagement, reflection, collaboration, mentoring and sharing ideas. At King David we strive to meet the developmental, social and educational needs of our students by providing a varied, challenging curriculum and a supportive school community.

Year 9 Program - Nitzan

Students in Year 9 are at a pivotal moment in their development. It is at this age that they begin to ask the questions “Who am I? Who do I want to be? How do others perceive me?” It is a period when young adults are tentatively developing a sense of self, are beginning to explore how they fit into the world around them, and start to question the status quo.

We have developed a full day program specifically designed to support and challenge our Year 9 cohort on their journey of self-discovery. Called “Nitzan”, the program is dedicated to growing our students in a way that supports healthy living beyond school. Nitzan gives our adolescents ownership over their learning, empowering them to build skills for their future through a variety of vibrant, dynamic and practical learning opportunities.

Co-Curricular

King David recognises it is our responsibility to educate the whole child. We have a very comprehensive co-curricular program that broadens students’ learning experience.

Our before and after school sports programs, lunch time activities, leadership opportunities, participation in inter-school sporting competitions and extensive performing arts programs offer students an avenue for self-expression.

These rich holistic learning opportunities available at The King David School provide a broad educational model that extends students to ensure that they develop habits that will see them enjoying a well-rounded life.
