Planting for Tu BiSh’vat in the Junior Kinder
In the lead up to BiSh’vat we have been reading books about trees, created our own tree crafts and have been learning what trees need to grow and what foods grow on trees. Tu BiSh’vat is the birthday of the trees, a day to celebrate nature and everything trees provide for us – fruits, shade and clean air.
On Wednesday, Hannah and Amalia from Bunnings Warehouse came to visit us for a planting session focusing on themes of Tu BiSh’vat: planting and environmental responsibility.
Each child in Junior Kinder was given a pot to first decorate. They scooped soil into their pots then got to choose their own yellow or orange marigold flower to plant. We spoke about what the flowers need to help them grow – soil, sun and water.
We hope the children enjoy taking care of their flowers at home and watching them grow.
