Science Week at KDS
It’s National Science Week! This year’s theme is “Glass: more than meets the eye”.
Students and teachers alike throughout our Junior and Senior Schools had a blast this week conducting glass-themed experiments throughout the week, which began with the Junior School teachers dressing up as famous scientists! Over the week, Junior School students created stained glass gummy windows, made beautiful light-catching kaleidoscopes, and even engineered a marble run. A number of documentaries were also shown as a special lunchtime treat.
At the Senior School, students made holograms, bent glass, engaged in macro photography and learned the history of glass, including First Nations’ glass use and the discovery of early glass in Israel. It’s been amazing to see so many of our students engage this week with how Science impacts our everyday lives. A question you might wish to discuss at your Shabbat tables is, ‘have you ever had a glass free day?’
