Soccer Champions

After weeks of performing on the court, the King David Senior indoor soccer team played off in an EISM Southern Division grand final against Huntingtower. The team arrived fired up and ready to go however, it was Huntingtower who got off to the quick start. Scoring two goals inside the first eight minutes saw Huntingtower take an early lead. With four minutes to go in the first half, some brilliance from Ariel Jona got one back for King David and then a minute later he tied up the game 2-2. A goal right before the halftime whistle from Sammy Want would see King David go up 3-2 at the break.

A great speech from coach Ari Miller got the boys fired up, and the second half started with some great chances. Super sub Jack Hart came on with 12 minutes to go in the game and scored a goal almost immediately, putting King David up 4-2. But he didn’t stop there. Jack would go on to score not one but two more goals within 2 minutes and extend the lead to 6-2. An incredible hat-trick. Huntingtower fought hard and managed to score two more goals but Adam Langer found the net and Ariel Jona completed his hat-trick, which saw King David win 8-4 and lift the EISM trophy.

If the team can win next week’s Division Final against the Northern Conference winners, it will see King David complete a historic double as premiers of senior both outdoor and indoor soccer for 2022.
