The great round challah bake
In the lead up to Rosh HaShanah, Junior School students and their families joined in our virtual great round challah bake!
Louise Lowinger taught students how to make round challah, and then amazed us with her variations: challah shaped like a flower, a pull-apart loaf, and challah braided like a basket.
As Louise expertly demonstrated her challah skills, David Opat entertained us with his best bad challah jokes – reminding us they “never get stale!” (zing!) and helped us boogie while we bake with his DJing.
Rabbi Gersh Lazarow made a special guest appearance to help us shake off our mistakes and prepare for Rosh HaShanah by hearing the shofar.

The King David School is a forward-thinking school that fosters a love of learning, egalitarianism and a proud connection to Jewish identity.
The King David School acknowledges the Bunurong/Boonwurrung and the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin nation as Traditional Owners of the land on which the School operates. We also acknowledge Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to them and to their Elders past and present.
