Year 5 students attend the GRIP conference

This week Year 5 went to the GRIP (generosity, responsibility, integrity and people) student leadership conference. It was such a great opportunity for us to experience. We learnt so many things about stepping up to leadership, integrity and teamwork.

There were 3000 children from 217 schools across Victoria at the conference. We were able to collaborate with other schools and share ideas. We were inspired to think outside the box for ideas. We were also able to meet people and find similarities between us.

To STEP up as leaders everyday, we need to:

  • Serve others
  • Take initiative
  • Exemplify school values
  • (have) Purpose

To STEP up to integrity, we need to:

  • Show what is right
  • Tell the truth
  • Encourage others to do what is right
  • Persist if you are criticised

Throughout the day, there were students chosen from different schools to stand on stage and participate in motivational activities. Ellie participated in the ‘Emoji Game’, Itai participated in the ‘Heads and Tails Languages Game’ and Avni, very bravely, led 3000 children to dance the ‘Toby Maguire’.

We can now use this information to take initiative and serve others. We are hoping to use what we learnt to be better leaders in our community.
